DR RUPERT WHITE

BMBS, MRCGP, GMC: 7045427

"After a career in Engineering, I retrained in medicine at Nottingham University, qualifying in 2009. The majority of my subsequent training was in Chesterfield, including periods at The Brimington Surgery, and I qualified as a General Practitioner in Chesterfield in 2014. I started as a salaried GP here at The Brimington Surgery at that point, and joined the partnership in 2017. My special interests are in musculoskeletal medicine and dermatology." DR LOUISE BELLINGHAM

MBCHB, MRCGP, GMC: 7072665

I qualified from Sheffield University in 2010 and went on to continue my training in Nottinghamshire before coming to Chesterfield to start my GP training in 2014. I qualified as a GP in August 2017 and started work as a Salaried GP here at Brimington Surgery before becoming a Partner in August 2021. Days in surgery; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

DR MARZENA WHITTAKER

I qualified from University of Silesia in 2006. I went on to continue my medical training by working in various medical specialities in Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Northern General Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and Chesterfield Royal Hospital. I qualified as a General Practitioner in Chesterfield in 2020 and started working as a salaried GP here at The Brimington Surgery. Days in surgery; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

DR RUTH K HUGHES

I graduated top of my class from University of Birmingham in 2015. I spent 2 years working as a junior doctor in central Birmingham before moving to Chesterfield to complete my GP training. Days in surgery; alternate Wednesdays, Thursday and Friday.

DR LOUISE J BRIGGS

I qualified from Sheffield University in 2000 and continued my training in Sheffield and Chesterfield until qualifying as a GP in 2004. I have worked in Chesterfield since then and joined Brimington surgery as a salaried GP in March 2021. Days in surgery; Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternate Wednesdays.

Nurse Practitioners

A nurse practitioner is an experienced nurse, with additional specialist training. They are qualified to diagnose illness, decide on treatment and issue prescriptions. They usually see people with new illness and do not normally see people with ongoing problems.

Primary Care Paramedic

Primary Care Paramedic is an experienced practitioner, with additional specialist training. They are qualified to diagnose illness and decide on treatment. They usually see people with new illness and do not normally see people with ongoing problems.

Days in surgery; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. Mandy and Gemma are our HCAs.

Social Prescribing Team

The social prescribers' role is to support and enable patients who might not be able to independently access the help and support they need for their health and well-being from community and voluntary services.

Admiral Nurse Team

The Admiral Nurse Team is employed by Dementia UK and there role is to assist carers of patients with Dementia with both emotional support and practical skills. Working Hours - Mon-Fri 9am-5pm Appointments will last 45 minutes and can be face to face, telephone or video call. The nurse will signpost the carer/person living with Dementia onto other local services as needed. Carers can book an appointment by calling 01246 956 599 or emailing derbyanclinic@dementiauk.org The clinic nurse will call them back to arrange an appointment.

Practice Management

The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The Practice Manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Administration

Our admin team consists of the following staff: Joanne (Admin Team Leader), Nicola (Deputy Team Leader), Leanne (Medical Secretary/Administrator) Jo M (Administrator) & Roz (Care Co-ordinator).

Patient Support Team

Our Patient Support Team are here to help and assist you. If you have a query that cannot be solved they will endeavour to find someone that can help. In some circumstances this team are required to ask for as much information as possible - for example when a home visit is requested. This is in order for your doctor to assess the situation and deal with it correctly. Confidentiality is a priority at the surgery and any information given will be dealt with appropriately. We are unable to give out any information to family members or friends unless written consent from the patient concerned has been given to the practice. Please understand that this is a stipulation of the Data Protection Act and is for the protection of our patients. The team consists of Juliet & Kim (Team Leaders), Alice, Faye, Laura & Sonia.

Patient Coordinator Team

This is a new team, to help support patients with their requests and queries. This team includes Debbie and Hollie.

Pharmacists

Liz is a Pharmacist who has had additional training. She can prescribe medicines, undertake medication reviews, undertake audits and see patients face to face where appropriate.
